What Does this MRI Scan Report Indicate?

MRI unsure of meaning. findings state. there s no evidence of abnormal marrow signal. the crabiocervial junction is unremarkable & the intrinsic cord signal is normal in appearance. c1-c2 & c2-c3 are unremarkable. c3-c4 broad based disc protusion indents the thecal sac resulting in ental cord abutment. mild right sided foraminal canal narrowing is noted. c4-c5 shallow broad based disc displacement with underlying preforaminal/foraminal posterior vertebral body osteophyte encroaches on the entrance of the right neutral foramen without evidence of neurocompression, degenerative facet arthropathy contributes to mild foraminal stenosis. c5-c6 dis dehydration is accompanied by loss of disc height. broad based posterior disc protrusion with underlying posterior vertebral body osteophyte formation measuring approximately 3mm in AP diameter indents the thecal sac resulting in ventral cord effacement. the mixed spondylotic protrusion also encroaches on the entrance of the right neural foramen without evidence of neurocompression. c6 right uncinate process hypertrophy contributes to mild to moderate foraminal stenosis. c6-c7 left preforaminal disc protrusion encroaches on the entrance of the neural foramen contacting the left c7 nerve root. c7-t1 shallow broad based noncompressive disc displacement is noted. t1-t2 and t2-t3 are unremarkable. What does all of this mean? Thanks in advance for your time & consideration. Have a great evening!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The MRI report is indicative of prolapsed inter vertebral disc which is commonly called slip disc. Due to this disc displacement, there has been narrowing of inter vertebral foramina thus causing pressure on the nerve roots taking origin from the spinal cord. Please see a neurologist for pain killers, physiotherapy, vitamin-B12 supplements and antidepressants. You may need surgery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ajeet Singh, General & Family Physician
